Marti Demos is an Economic Officer at U.S. Embassy Kabul. Prior to this assignment, she served as Vice Consul in Bogota, Colombia, and as Economic Officer in Accra, Ghana. Before joining the Foreign Service, she held a variety of leadership positions with international NGOs, including the American Refugee Committee, working in Africa, Asia and the Balkans.
Prior to that, she spent eight years working as an economist for Northwest Airlines. Marti earned her Masters in International Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle, and her Bachelors in International Relations from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She speaks Spanish, German, Russian and Polish.
