Erik Anderson is a career Foreign Service Officer, currently serving as an Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.  He has also had postings to the U.S. Embassies in Paramaribo, Moscow, and Bangkok.  In Washington, Erik has worked as the Desk Officer for Indonesia, Staff Assistant in the Executive Office of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and as a student in the Foreign Service Institute's yearlong economic studies program.  In 2019, Erik received the Department of State's Frank Loy Award for Environmental Diplomacy.  Prior to joining the Foreign Service in 2008, Erik worked as a brand strategy consultant in New York and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bucharest.  Erik has a Bachelor's degree with honors in neuroscience from Trinity College in Hartford, and he speaks varying degrees of Thai, Russian, Romanian, and Dutch.
