Retired Colonel James Brown is currently supporting the Bayat Group and the Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) as their Global Director for Enterprise Sales and Relations. As the Global Director of Enterprise Sales and Relations, he developed an extensive Global Network to improve communications across Afghanistan. He has work diligently with the AWCC Technical Team to connect their world class optical fiber network to their customers across the country.  

Prior to his arrival at AWCC in 2018, James served in many key positions during a 29 year military career, retiring as the Commandant of the Civil Affairs Regiment. He also served as the Chief of Staff for the US Army JFK Special Warfare Center and School, and Commander of the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), the only Special Operations Civil Affairs Brigade in the United States Army.  

Colonel (Ret) Brown has extensive experience working in Afghanistan. In 2001, as part of the Joint Special Operations Task Force – TF Dagger, he led the Civil Affairs support into Afghanistan during the initial phase of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In 2011, he commanded the COMISAF Advisory and Assistance Team in Afghanistan, providing tactical through strategic level input to directly inform General John Allen’s decision-making and planning processes. In 2015, he served as the Director of the Civil Military Advisory Group for the Special Operations Joint Task Force in Afghanistan where he led the strategic engagement focused on improving the capability and capacity of Afghan Special Operations Forces.   

He has civil military experience in 34 countries to include advising the US Department of State and the Kuwaiti Government to establish and run the Humanitarian Operations Center in Kuwait that effectively coordinated the International humanitarian community’s response and limited the effects of combat operations on the people of Iraq -- ultimately averting a humanitarian crisis. 

Mr. Brown’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Lynchburg College in Virginia and a Master of Science Degree in International Relations from Troy State University. James also served as the Senior Service College Military Fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.  He is also certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
