Thomas Billingsley serves as an Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul covering aviation, budget, and telecommunications.  He has also served in Canberra, Australia and Guangzhou, China.  Prior to joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 2016, he was an Air Traffic Control officer in the U.S. Air Force, and an aerospace engineer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he conducted research and development for aviation and airport safety systems.  He currently serves part-time as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserves.  He received a BS in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy (2004) and an MS in aeronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2006).  Thomas grew up in central Montana, and he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family.
